How do I sign up for my first class?
Sign up online here! Your first class includes a rental of boxing gloves and wraps! Please check in 30 minutes before your first class.
What should I expect for my first class?
Please arrive 30 minutes early to your first class so you can fill out a waiver, have your hands wrapped by a trainer, and go through a quick boxing & class format tutorial. We'll walk you through everything so you feel totally comfortable with the technique and class format before you start!
Where should I park?
If you are attending an early morning class, you may park in the KFC parking lot until 10AM. Otherwise, there is unrestricted parking in front of the gym along our side of 3rd St. There is also parking on 2nd street, which is one block north of the gym. Martel, Fuller, and Poinsetta have 2 hour parking, but some blocks do not allow parking between 6pm-8am. Read signs carefully and watch out for street cleaning! Most members are able to find street parking within a couple blocks of the gym, but please factor in ample time for parking especially for your first visit.
What should I wear/bring to class?
Wear exercise clothes and shoes you're comfortable moving around in. You'll want to make sure to drink plenty of water – you can either bring your own, or you can buy some here. We recommend that you leave any valuables at home (or bring a lock), but you’ll be able to stash your stuff in a cubby in our community room during class.
What if I’ve never boxed before?
All of our classes are designed to accommodate people of all levels, including beginners! When you check in early for your first class, we'll wrap your hands and give you a breakdown of boxing basics so you know what to expect. Most newcomers to our studio are also brand new to boxing!
Do I need my own boxing gloves and wraps?
We have gloves and wraps available to rent or buy here. For your first class, your glove and wrap rentals are free! We'll always wrap your hands up for you as long as you check in with us at least 15 min before class time. We also made a great instructional video detailing how to wrap your hands, click here to watch and learn.
Is there a shower at Prevail?
Yes. We have all the shower soap essentials, but BYOT (Bring your own towel!)
What if I'm running late to class?
Give us a call at (323) 452-0101 and we'll hold your spot for up to 5 minutes into class time. If you're not here at the start of class time and we don't know that you're on your way, your spot may be given away to a standby student. If it's your first time, we'll do our best to accommodate you as long as you arrive 10 minutes before class time.
What if I need to cancel a class?
No problem! You may cancel a class in the Prevail Boxing app or online here up to 12 hours before the class with no penalty. For any private or semi-private training sessions, there is a 24-hr cancellation policy. To learn more about our class cancellation policy, please click here. If you book your classes through ClassPass, please contact ClassPass customer service if you have any questions about their class cancellation policies.
Are there any age limits?
Our classes are open to students ages 16+. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be physically present with you to sign a waiver before your first class, no exceptions. [Sorry - nannies or friend’s parents are not permitted to sign the waiver for a minor unless they show proof of power of attorney.]
If I haven’t exercised in a while, am I going to be able to keep up?
Yes! We're honored to be the first stop on your fitness journey. We recognize that everyone has different challenges and capabilities, and we're always here to encourage you to do your best.
What if I have an injury? Or if I'm pregnant?
If you have a previous injury or are pregnant, we ask that you consult your doctor before starting any exercise program. Assuming you get the OK to workout with us, we will work with you to modify exercises so you can still get a good, safe sweat in!
Am I really going to learn how to box? Will I ever have to fight against an opponent?
We train you with the same techniques we would train a fighter – knowing that (probably) isn’t your goal. You will learn proper boxing form and technique without the threat of actually ever having to fight in a ring.
Doesn’t boxing give you bulky muscles?
That’s a common myth, but it’s far from the truth! Boxing is the ultimate leaning full-body workout – you burn 500+ calories per class in this fun cardio class. Our workouts are designed to tone your core while sculpting long, lean muscles.
Can I leave my child/dog/bunny/etc. in your lobby space while I work out?
As much as we LOVE your families, unfortunately we're not able to allow parents to leave their children or animals unattended in the front room during a workout.
